There are over 50,000 tradesmen working in FBiH

The strategic decisions of the FBiH Government in the mandate period refer precisely to accelerated economic development based on increased productivity and employment.

The Federal Bureau of Statistics recently published the publication “Federation in Figures”, which, among other things, shows that the concentration of legal entities is highest in the area of Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla.

When, at the end of last month, the Mostar City Council adopted a decision on the adoption and implementation of the regulatory plan for the Miljkovići business zone, which is planned for 180 hectares with the planned 9 blocks in the first phase, the conditions were created for the opening of additional investment momentum in the city on the Neretva, one of the cities that can boast a high number of craftsmen and registered legal entities, writes Večernji list BiH.

Now all those who want to expand their activity, as well as investors who are just looking for a place to realize their business ideas, will have space that they can lease at favorable prices and thereby strengthen the economic image of the city, the county, and the country as a whole.

In the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the city of Tuzla, they recently passed a decision abolishing the fee for registration of self-employment, which provided an additional incentive and a wind at the back of investors. These two cities, along with Sarajevo, are the local communities in which, according to the data we had access to, the largest number of legal entities, as well as natural persons, tradesmen, operate, and when you look at the moves of the city authorities, as well as the processes of further transport connections, it seems how their number will continue to grow.

Concentration

The Federal Bureau of Statistics recently published the publication “Federation in Figures”, in which, among other things, it is evident that the concentration of legal entities is the highest in the area of Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla (according to the classification, they enter the class with more than 2800 entities), just like and the concentration of natural persons – craftsmen.

In terms of legal entities, they are followed by Zenica and Bihać, municipalities and cities of ŽZH (Široki Brijeg, Grude, Posušje and Ljubuški), Livno and Tomislavgrad from HBŽ and a number of municipalities and cities of Tuzla and Central Bosnia counties.

Interesting conclusions can be drawn when analyzing the trend in the number of legal entities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which point to the growth and expansion of business. Thus, in 2020, 62,180 were registered in that entity, while in 2022, that number increased to 65,658.

When looking at the classification by activity, it is evident that the largest number of legal entities comes from the wholesale and retail trade sector, as well as motor vehicle and motorcycle repair activities – 14,906, followed by legal entities from other service activities whose number in 2022 was amounted to 13,355.

It is encouraging that the third place is held by the processing industry with 6,748 registered legal entities, which is a noticeable increase compared to 2021, when 6,561 legal entities from the processing industry operated in the FBiH.

When we talk about natural persons, i.e. craftsmen, their number last year was 54,649, which is also an increase compared to 2021, when 53,188 of them were operating, while, analyzing the classification of activities, it is evident that the largest number of them come from trade and repair motor vehicles – 11,836. They are followed by tradesmen from the activities of providing accommodation and food preparation and serving (9835), in third place are tradesmen in the processing industry (7260), while in fourth place are employees in agriculture (5327).

For the latter two activities, a certain growth can also be determined compared to previous years, which brings optimism and shows how, despite the crises, the residents of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina find a way to stay and survive in the activities they are engaged in.

In this regard, it is certainly important to emphasize that their work prospects could be further improved if the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina implements all the planned reforms from the economic segment.

Development of the Federation

The strategic decisions of the FBiH Government in the mandate period refer precisely to accelerated economic development based on increased productivity and employment.

This will enable all parts of the economy and society to realize development potential, show innovation and creativity, as well as create qualified and highly qualified adequately paid jobs, while preserving the environment and reducing inequality, eliminating discrimination and gender inequality in society.

The priorities are to increase the digitization of the economy, support the transfer and development of technologies, support the development of the business private sector, support exports and the creation of products with more added value…

Resource-efficient and sustainable development implies an effort to achieve environmentally and socially acceptable production and consumption, as well as a circular economy.

There is also a set of legal solutions that will relieve the work, i.e. reduce allocations for contributions, while with regard to the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, the creation of tools and policies aimed at encouraging small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to initiate business digitization processes is foreseen.

This will strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, increase their and the number of employees in the small economy sector, as well as encourage the growth of innovative and export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises, writes Večernjak.
