The decision on the environmental permit for the Kuti quarry has not yet been issued!

“The public has the opportunity within eight days from the date of publication on the website to submit their comments, suggestions and opinions on the draft of this decision to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism,” according to the press release of the Kuti Citizens’ Association.

Media Release:

In connection with the information published in certain media that the exploitation of stone from the “Kuti” quarry near Mostar is starting, on this occasion, the Kuti Citizens’ Association informs the public that this information is not correct.

Namely, on the website of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism on May 3, 2024, the Decision on the Environmental Permit was published, which was withdrawn from the site after our intervention. Then, on May 7, 2024, on the website of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, in the section ‘Public Discussions and Public Inspection’, the Draft Decision on Issuing an Environmental Permit to the investor “Majdan Kuti” doo Mostar was published.

The public has the opportunity to submit their comments, suggestions and opinions on the draft of this Decision to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism within eight days from the date of publication on the website.

Please note that at the end of the deadline, after reviewing all the comments, the Ministry will issue a final decision on the submitted application for an environmental permit for the “Kuti” quarry near Mostar. After the decision on the issuance of the environmental permit and its validity, the investor should also obtain other permits, the most important of which is the exploitation permit, without which it is not possible to start the exploitation of stone from this locality.

The Kuti Citizens’ Association, together with the residents of the settlement, will continue to use all legal remedies to protect their homes, noting once again that we are against the opening of a quarry that is only 137 meters away from the houses, which threatens the lives of the residents of the Kuti settlement. In addition, we oppose the opening of the quarry due to the impact on groundwater, the danger to human life since it is a mined area, as well as the impossibility of accessing the quarry site itself, without damaging private property.
