The statehood day of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 15 families from the area of Konjic, who were left without their homes during the flash floods at the beginning of October, will be remembered as the day when, thanks to good people through the Pomozi.ba Association and with the support of the City of Konjic, they signed contracts that insured them funds for solving the housing issue.
– Today, symbolically, knowing what home means to each person, and what homeland means to all of us, we jointly signed a document about a new home for our fellow citizens who were left without them, about the future. When we have a homeland, then we can hope for something, and when we have a home and a family, then we will survive on that ground. I am extremely glad that over 90% of the residents, who were left without their homes, decided to stay on that ground, and their determination gives us the strength to move on and confirms to us that through solidarity and responsible and teamwork we can reach a common goal. This is the first phase of the activities that are being carried out and I must express my great gratitude to the Pomoza organization. ba. What is very important to emphasize is that these people who sign the contracts today come from the household area, they are not for social welfare, they are hardworking and honest people, honest workers, who just want what they had and what they lost in one night. I wish everyone to be in their new homes as soon as possible and return to their daily lives and duties – said the mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić, when signing the contract.
– We signed 15 contracts, with which we provided 100,000 KM to each family individually, and I hope that in the coming days and months, most families will manage to find a new apartment, a new house, and some will start building previously demolished houses. I thank all the donors who helped these people get these funds today. I promise that we will continue to fight for all of them, until the damage they suffered is compensated – said Elvir Karalić, president of the Pomozi.ba Association.
– Thank you to the mayor, thank you to Pomozi .ba, donors and everyone who helps us in these our most difficult moments. We had our own home, our own everything. We lost all that, but thank God we have to move on. We will try to move on with our heads held high, we have to – said Cecilija Anđelić, a woman from Konjičan who lost her home.
– Many thanks to all the good people who participated in any way to help us in these difficult days. We are starting from scratch and I hope that as soon as possible we will build homes for ourselves, move in and accommodate our families – emphasized Hamid Sultić, thanking on behalf of all beneficiaries of the funds.
Aiša Šoljić, who came to the signing as an escort for her parents who were left homeless during the flood, said: “First of all, I thank our mayor Osman Ćatić, who welcomed the morning in our Neretvica that morning, when the flood hit us. Special thanks to the Pomozi organization. ba, who showed so much empathy and supported us from the very beginning until today that we were surprised by their activities. Klis and Klišani have always had a soul, which we should show even now, when we need to be transparent and open to each other – said Aisha.
