Join Thematic Advocacy Teams

On May 18, 2021 during the Philanthropic Conference representatives of the public, business and civil sector, based on the analysis of the legal and fiscal framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina which included a review of legislation, its implementation, challenges and opportunities for change, chose priority topics on which we will work together for the next three years. The first three topics are:

  • Exemption of VAT for food donations,
  • Interpretation of legal regulations (donations under the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations, collection of VAT from organizations that provide services, etc.),
  • Legal definition of donations, humanitarian aid, and humanitarian activities.

We hereby invite you to give your contribution by joining and working in one or more thematic advocacy teams (TZT). TZT will be the key bearers of the campaigns that will work on solving the problems of the three selected topics.

Apply by filling out the form no later than July 1 (Thursday) by 5 p.m. You can be a member of more than one team, it is only important to specify it in the form.

Application form:

Each team will be composed of 15 people coming from three sectors (public, business and civic).

Now, you are surely wondering what exactly is the role of these teams, how much time should you set aside for this engagement and what would be your specific tasks. In short, the TZT will have four tasks, crucial for the success of campaigns to improve the legal framework for the development of philanthropy in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

CREATING ADVOCACY ACTION PLANS.

Members of advocacy teams participate in creating advocacy action plans for each of the three selected topics, making proposals for defining goals, target groups, strategies and campaign activities, but engagement may include gathering information from the field, providing the necessary documents, providing available information, etc. Within these activities you will have the full support of administrative, financial and PR experts, as well as the support of the Mozaik Foundation.

APPROVING DEVELOPED SOLUTIONS AND PROPOSING A CAMPAIGN PLAN TO THE CONSORTIUM FOR FINAL ADOPTION.

After the Mozaik Foundation program staff translates your ideas into a concrete advocacy plan, the TZT comments on it, proposes changes as needed, approves, and gives the green light to send to the Consortium for final approval.

IMPLEMENTATION OF ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES.

If you can, in any way, help with promotional activities, participation in events, establishing contacts, participating in meetings with decision makers or other stakeholders that can contribute to achieving the goals of the advocacy campaign, etc. – your contribution is more than welcome!

MONITORING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CAMPAIGN.

The members of TZT will closely monitor the implementation of the campaign, and through meetings and online correspondence propose possible changes and refinements in order for the campaign to achieve the defined goals.

Finally, this is a draft work plan for the next three months:

  • In mid-July, we will organize the first online meeting with the aim of introducing the members of the TZT, explaining the roles and agreeing on the way of work. The Rules of Procedure of the TZT should also be adopted at this meeting (the draft Rules will be sent to you before the meeting).
  • A second meeting will be held in the second week of September, during which the TZT will begin drafting the advocacy plan. Based on the conclusions of this meeting, the Mozaik Foundation, in cooperation with partners, will develop a draft advocacy plan, which will be sent to you by e-mail for further comments.
  • At the third meeting that will be held in late September, the Consortium will present you with a draft advocacy plan for additional discussion. Based on your final comments, the plan will be finalized and approved for submission to the Consortium for final adoption.

Given the importance of these changes for Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is worth being part of the advocacy team, right!? We look forward to receiving completed application form and start building TOGETHER a better environment for the development of philanthropy.

The “Legal Framework for Philanthropy” program is implemented by a consortium consisting of the Mozaik Foundation, the Hastor Foundation, the Network for Building Peace, the Pomozi.ba Association, the Trag Foundation and the Catalyst Foundation. The program is financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and its goal is to change the legal framework in six thematic areas.
