Young people from three municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the workshop “Sacred Paths to Understanding and Reconciliation”

The Association for Active Society “AZAD” gathered young people from Jajce, Donji Vakuf and Novi Travnik for a three-day gathering in Vitez.

Young people from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina improved their skills and knowledge through workshops of critical thinking, active listening, which contributed to improving the understanding of the other and the different. In addition, young people had the opportunity to participate in sports challenges.

We are very glad that during the three project phases we managed to unite three municipalities, that we all came together and met new people. Also, during the workshop, we completed certain analyzes together, but also laid the foundations for future activities and the development of friendship,” said Viktorija Matošević, coordinator of the Association for Active Society.

The projectSacred Paths to Understanding and Reconciliationwas implemented with the help of USAID funds through the PRO-Future peacebuilding project implemented by CRS with partners in 75 local communities.

During the interreligious dialogue round table, over thirty young people had the opportunity to share their experiences. Strengthening the capacity of young people creates conditions in which in the future they can create and implement projects themselves, and thus become active participants in society,” said Ismail Elkaz, President of the Association for Active Society AZAD.

The Association for Active Society AZAD is a non-governmental organization founded by young enthusiasts from Donji Vakuf. Young people of different educational profiles work through numerous activities to improve segments of everyday life such as environmental protection, volunteerism and activism, sports development, humanitarian work, development of democracy and so on.

PRO-Future is a USAID project of building peace and trust among citizens of all ethnic and religious groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is implemented by the American humanitarian organization Catholic Relief Services CRS, with partners: Caritas BiH, Institute for Youth Development KULT, Forum of Tuzla Citizens (FGT), Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka (hCA) and the Interreligious Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina (MRV).
