Today, the USAID Diaspora Invest project published a Call for Technical-Advisory Assistance which focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises, not older than 5 years, that have demonstrable business ties with the Bosnian diaspora (through co-ownership or business partnership).
“The basic condition of connection with members of BiH diaspora means that in co-ownership of the company or through a business partnership – agreement on cooperation and mediation there is a person who belongs to BiH emigrant community. This condition is met by any person who has spent at least 3 years in the last 5 years abroad. The motivation for this type of criteria is the encouragement of investments from the diaspora, which is clearly seen from over 150 examples of companies that USAID ‘Diaspora Invest’ has supported in the last 4 years of the project,” said the USAID project “Diaspora Invest”.
Through technical support programs, a number of possible forms of cooperation with companies are offered, and they also explain that investors can propose some additional activities in accordance with their own needs.
“The company can request various forms of technical support, where we do not have a closed list of possible options for cooperation, but we can describe what we have worked with companies so far: engagement of business development consultants, support in introducing international quality standards, marketing and promotion support, web development – company page, education on sales, training for the introduction of new business practices, specific software solutions and similar“, added the USAID project “Diaspora Invest”.
The project emphasized that this is the last call for technical support of this kind within the USAID project “Diaspora Invest”. In this regard, they instruct local self-government units and all development agencies to map potential beneficiaries and present them with the opportunities offered by this call.
