Training – Team management skills

About the training

Forming a quality team within civil society organizations is something that is becoming a challenge for many organizations today, regardless of whether we are talking about small organizations whose work is focused on the local community or those working in the wider area. Thus, small but also larger organizations, with significantly higher workloads, established work programs and a clear decision-making structure, face certain difficulties and/or challenges in their work.

Understanding team members for the goals that the organization sets for itself, as well as understanding the importance of the role of each individual in the team, is crucial in terms of development and progress of the organization. In order to achieve harmony in what is organizationally important, as well as what is important to the team we work with, it is necessary to know and apply different approaches in working with the team.

Team management requires that we have developed skills, but also that we know the approaches to working with smaller or larger groups of people. Team management skills are those skills that everyone who runs an organization should have, and more importantly they need to be constantly improved. Continuous development of team management skills is a key factor for the success of the organization, where the greatest contribution is given by team members. If they have the appropriate support, well-organized communication, the opportunity for professional growth, and a space in which they can present their ideas, then their satisfaction grows, and thus the organization.

Like other skills, these are acquired, applied and improved. Team management skills training will offer participants new knowledge and skills in the field of team management, arising from examples of good practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond. In addition to the theoretical part, an important segment of the training itself will be the practical application of what has been learned, and in order to put the acquired knowledge into function from the very beginning.

The key topics that will be covered during the training are:

  • Human resource management,
  • The importance of teamwork and understanding of roles in the team,
  • Setting goals and objectives,
  • Decision making and hierarchy of interests.

The training is intended for people from partner organizations that cooperate in the Local Works Program (USAID/LWCDA), the Human Rights Support Program (USAID/INSPIRE) or other USAID programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to the current epidemiological situation, training is limited to a maximum of 26 people. Submitting an application does not automatically mean that the person has been selected to participate in the training.
