The “Days of Philanthropy” event, which took place last week in Tuzla, Bijeljina, Travnik, Konjic and Kaknje, officially ended with the “Celebrating Philanthropy” ceremony that was held last night at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Tuzla, with a concert by Maya Sar and the Cubismo group. Both the manifestation and the ceremony itself are the crown of the one-month campaign “People with a philanthropic heart” supported by the United States Government through the USAID activity Local strength – Our community is our responsibility, and implemented by the Tuzla Community Foundation with partners from four cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the manifestation “Days of Philanthropy” for children in Tuzla, we brought to life the philanthropists of the Tuzla region, people who shaped the world we live in today with their actions in the past, as well as a round table on the importance of transparent and responsible work of civil society organizations. In Konjic, with the help of our partners, we organized a “Colorful Street of Philanthropy” for children, as well as a philanthropic evening, and in Bijeljina, a Marko Luis concert and a panel discussion on philanthropy and charity. Another philanthropic evening and gathering of benefactors from this region was organized in Travnik, and in Kakanj a series of activities for children and gathering of local donors and philanthropists with a concert by Armin Muzaferija.
The campaign celebrated philanthropy, and especially people with a philanthropic heart in BiH who selflessly give their time, money and knowledge to make our communities better places to live. Through stories about people with big hearts, we said that the smile, optimism, vision and enthusiasm of a good person can be an encouragement to all of us and an encouragement that sometimes just a smile of gratitude from a person whose selfless act changes their life is a sufficient reward.
Highlighting the commitment of the USAID mission to the development of BiH in the last 25 years, the director of the USAID Mission in BiH, Courtney Chubb, emphasized the importance of programs that strengthen local organizations and local initiatives that bring citizens closer together and encourage them to self-organize, participate and be involved in solving specific problems in their local communities, settlements, cities and the entire country.
“USAID’s Power Local program uses the knowledge and connections of local organizations to drive change in their communities. We are proud to support local organizations because we believe that local leadership is key to achieving progress and prosperity for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Director Chubb.
All these events confirmed that philanthropy lives in cities all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the values on which it rests can and should be the basis for the society in which we all want to live.
“Philanthropy is a universal value that expresses love for man and is much more than just charity. It helps us to build mutual trust and shape a common vision of a better society, and when it is organized and directed towards the right goals, it can contribute to social and economic recovery. In our country, there are many philanthropists who do good deeds and they should be role models for all of us, especially the younger generations, to whom we want to convey true values for the future”, said the director of the Tuzla Community Foundation, Jasna Jašarević, after the end of the campaign.
The partners of the “Day of Philanthropy”, who together with the Tuzla Community Foundation brought kindness and love to the streets of their cities in the past week, are: the Travnik Youth Education Center, the Muharem Berbić Kakanj Foundation, the Konjic Konjic Region Volunteers and Friends and the Bijeljina Local Foundation, but many others citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who helped spread the story of kindness and love throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
