Animal husbandry is the main agricultural branch of the Herzegovina County both today and throughout history. It is a branch that has nourished generations of people in this area and which should definitely be the carrier of the economy and the strategic direction of the development of this region in the future.
From the need for the protection and development of all types of animal husbandry, association of farmers, cooperation with relevant institutions and subjects, adaptation of agricultural and livestock production to the joining of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union, improvement and modernization of agricultural production, increasing competitiveness and achieving sustainability of livestock production and representing the interests of agricultural producers at all levels of government, the initiative committee started the process of founding the Hercegbosna County Cattle Breeders’ Association.
The founding assembly of the Association will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in Livno, in the premises of Linnovate Business Park at Zgona bb, starting at 4:00 p.m.
Some of the goals of the association are:
1) Representing the interests of farmers at the local, cantonal, federal, state and international levels.
2) Promotion and development of agriculture and animal husbandry in Herceg-Bosnia County and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
3) Promoting the development of all types of animal husbandry with an emphasis on traditional extensive animal husbandry.
4) Protection and development of agriculture and traditional forms of animal husbandry specific to the karst region.
4) Increasing the productivity of animal husbandry with sustainable use of pastures and natural resources.
5) Increasing competitiveness and working on the sustainability of livestock production
6) Connecting with farmers’ organizations at the European and world level.
7) Education of members and the public in the domain of agriculture and animal husbandry.
8) Promotion of sustainable ecological animal husbandry and agriculture in general.
9) Promotion of the use of advanced technologies in agricultural and livestock production.
10) Cooperation with other associations and subjects outside the domain of agriculture, such as veterinary organizations, nature protection associations, tourist organizations, humanitarian associations, hunting associations, scientific institutions and the like, all with the aim of sustainable development of the region, general progress, nature conservation and natural resources.

The goal is that the Association, as a non-profit organization, professionally approaches the fulfillment of the association’s goals in order to strongly and qualitatively represent the interests of livestock farmers and farmers, and for the Association to be an important factor in the development of agriculture and animal husbandry both in the county and at the national level.
– We invite all agricultural producers of all types of animal husbandry to come to the founding assembly of the Association and participate constructively both in the foundation and in the future work of the association – said the Association.
