The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has donated 12 Dräger respirators to hospitals in Bosnia and Herzegovina worth a total of 350,000 EUR.

Donated respirators and related equipment are devices of high quality for artificial respiration. Technical maintenance will be provided on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Additionally, trainings on the use of the donated equipment will be organized for hospital staff.

Respirators will be donated to hospitals in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Zenica and Tuzla, and a respirator for the hospital in Nova Bila has already been delivered.

The donated equipment was provided in cooperation with the federal institution Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk-THW (German Federal Agency for Technical Relief). German Ambassador to BiH Margret Uebber pointed out that Germany supports Bosnia and Herzegovina during the pandemic:  

“Unity is important, especially in times of crisis. Germany wants to support Bosnia and Herzegovina during the time of the pandemic. This donation is part of our ongoing support to this country and should be a contribution to overcoming these difficult times together,” said Ambassador Uebber.

Member of the Crisis Headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Health and Assistant Minister of Public Health of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina doctor Goran Čerkez and the head of the Regional Center East Sarajevo of the Institute of Public Health of Republika Srpska Vlado Miovčić expressed gratitude for all the support that Germany continuously provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the health system, but also the economy.

“This is a very important donation, especially at a time when we have an increased number of hospitalizations, and I want to thank on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Health, but also institutions from Zenica, Nova Bila, Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla that will receive this equipment,” he said. Additionally, doctor Čerkez thanked Germany for all the support they provided to the health system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
