The Center for Civic Cooperation from Livno in partnership with the Association of Citizens “Grahovo” from Bosansko Grahovo held a press conference marking the end of the first year of the five-year project “LocalWorks – Together for Local Development”.
On that occasion, nine sub-grants were presented – projects that were implemented in the previous period in the area of Livno, Tomislavgrad, Bosansko Grahovo, Kupres, Posušje, Široki Brijeg and Grude. Presented projects are extremely important for the community, promoters of positive change and indicators of the development of society as a whole. The implementation of these sub-grants in the area of West Herzegovina Canton and Canton 10 created an opportunity for partnerships and joint work on the implementation of projects where their contribution, by providing funds and volunteering, was given by individuals – citizens, members of local communities and associations, local governments and companies.
The first indicators of the LocalWorks are evident through stories and presentations of implemented projects and the importance of opening opportunities for citizen involvement and their participation in issues that are important. All actors involved within the project “Together for Local Development” as well as the implementers of nine sub-grants recognized the potential of Local Development Networks in municipalities/cities but also the opportunity for cooperation and partnerships with Local Network members from other municipalities/cities.
The press conference was an opportunity to communicate, get to know each other, exchange experiences and information, but also to establish mutual cooperation between civil society organizations and local communities on topics of joint action and problem solving in the area covered by the project.
The goal of the project “LocalWorks – Together for local development” is to connect local actors to join forces, knowledge, resources and capacities to be the bearers of social change and local development.
The project “LocalWorks – Together for Local Development” is implemented by the Center for Civic Cooperation from Livno and the Association of Citizens “Grahovo” from Bosanski Grahovo with the support of the United States Agency for International Development – USAID.
