13 girls moved into the renovated premises of the Public Institution “Home for children without parental care”

We could hardly wait for this day!

The successfully realized campaign “For my happier childhood” was crowned with the public presentation of renovated rooms in the Public Institution Home for children without parental care Tuzla, where 13 residents of the Home live. On October 1, 2021, the Tuzla Community Foundation organized this event in the backyard of the Home and celebrated the success of the initiative which was an example of good cooperation between the public, civil and business sectors, a symbol of organized action of the whole community and solidarity that elicited many children’s smiles.

There has been great excitement among the girls who will be living in the renovated premises in the past period. One of the girls who will live in this part of the Home, Eldina Dahić, says that they were looking forward to this day and looked inside every day, delighted with the new furniture: “Before, everything in our rooms was old and broken. We always lacked space for clothes and toys. We can’t believe that now we have the same rooms as our friends from school.”

Jasna Jašarević, Executive Director of the Tuzla Community Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the support of the entire community to this most sensitive category of our society: “We are happy to see smiling children’s faces today. The campaign is a great example of cooperation and joint action of the three sectors in a transparent and organized way and it is the only right way to develop philanthropy at the local level.”

In a society that is in poor socio-economic status, children without parental care are on the margins. A lot of effort is still needed to enable every child without adequate parental care to live, grow and develop in a loving environment. Well, although many segments of this problem are not in our hands, as a community we can initiate major changes, as we have shown in this example.

“I cannot hide my enthusiasm for the large number of donors and the success of the campaign. Of course, this financial part is very important to us, but it is even more important to us that we are not forgotten by the local community. Only together we can build the future for these children”, said Amir Muharemović, acting director of the Public Institution Home for children without parental care Tuzla.

The premises, which consist of a spacious living room with dining area, six attached bedrooms, toilets and two loggias, have been completely renovated and decorated with the support of numerous citizens and local businesses, over 55,000 BAM was collected. Although she entered the whole story with her heart, the initiator of the campaign and the representative of the business sector Merima Dževdetbegović, was surprised and proud of the joint success: “Some research proves that the positive impact of our behavior reaches the third level of our social ties, which is really impressive! So, all the good we do is important because it affects other people from our environment. The two renovation projects I initiated confirm just that. My personal motivation to contribute to society in this way has triggered an avalanche of support from friends and business partners, to whom I am immensely grateful.”

As European Philanthropy Day is celebrated today, this successful campaign was an opportunity to talk about philanthropy, as a way to invest for a better future, for the development of our society in a united, systematic and transparent way.
