Screening of the virtual interactive musical “Everything will be better if we (don’t) react”

Within the Dialogue for Joint Future initiative, the Institute for Youth Development KULT has created a platform through which young people have the opportunity to learn, reflect, share information and work together to realize basic human rights and fundamental freedoms. Through direct work with young people and the creation of an online space for youth interaction, the Institute encourages young people to exchange information and ideas with a special focus on human rights.

Given that Bosnia and Herzegovina is on its path to European integration, the Institute encourages young people to participate in decision-making processes, supporting a better understanding of the role of young people in BiH society, strengthening their role in local communities and connecting young people with other actors in the community. Through this initiative, young people implemented a number of local civic initiatives, donated numerous hours volunteering and learned, thought and acted together.

One of the activities of the initiative is the creation of artistic content for young people. Through the initiative, the Institute decided to create a virtual content with young people for young people during the pandemic, through which it will encourage reflection on some basic human rights, the violation of which affects the lives of young people in BiH.

The first virtual musical “Everything will be better if we (don’t) react”, talks about four young people who think about the human rights of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina in everyday conversation. The youthful review of everyday issues encourages us to think about young people, but also about the rights that are being violated in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dani is a rebellious teenager who is a fan of rock music and refuses to support everything that is current today. He cannot find himself in today’s world because he sees all the problems young people face. He wants to be able to change everything that limits and poisons him in today’s political and social system. He loves his friends and wants to help them and be there for them. He believes that what unites them is their differences and strives to respect everyone and everything based on what people are like. On the other side of Dani’s personality, there is a traditional framework from which he often cannot escape, because what the older people planted in him is an extremely strong trace. Will Dani manage to reconcile his open views with the traditional ones?

Ana “Anči” shines with self-confidence and positivity, but behind closed applications and walls she fights with herself. Like all of you, she is obsessed with cell phones and the internet. She really appreciates her friends and the time spent with them, considering that she is exposed to different ugly comments and insults at school. Although she is exposed to peer violence, she never treats her friends that way and treats them protectively. She is persistent and always tries to show that she can do anything, fights injustice and is very vocal about all the problems that surround her. She is aware of herself and her position in society. However, outside of society, she fails to find the courage to oppose others and tries hard to be one in the masses, in order to better fit into the wider society. She loves to be loved and for that reason she sometimes loses herself. Will Ana be able to find her way with friend’s help?

Nika is a teenage girl who loves good fun and is always an optimist in society. She’s a girl who just expresses the idea she has, so whoever likes it should implement it. She tries to be different from the rest of the teen population and excel in what she loves and does… because we are not a puzzle to fit. Always brings a smile to the faces of her friends and cheer them up no matter what situation they find themselves in. She is a true friend and a great benefactor. She has the answer to every situation and quickly copes with new challenges. She is a voice of reason in the team, one that always cuts the matter and encourages action. Nika is cheerful, fluttery, cheerful and loud. Is she like that even when she is left alone?

Maja is a teenage girl persistent in the fight for her rights. She sincerely fights for the equality of women and men and for everyone’s right to choose their religion. She likes to annoy her friends with constant photography because photography is one of her hobbies. Outwardly seemingly cold and stone-faced, Maja is essentially flickering and gentle as a butterfly. This can also be seen in her gothic dress style, which only at first looks cold and rough, and actually covers a gentle and sympathetic person. She loves listening to music and one of her favorite singers is Božo Vrećo. Although young, Maja is the only teenager in her society who has managed to go beyond the traditional framework in her desire to be everything she thinks and feels. Is that really so or does she also skillfully cover up her inner struggles?
