NLB Banka Sarajevo celebrated World Autism Awareness Day with the users of the Meho Sadiković Center

In 2007, the United Nations adopted a resolution to mark April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day. On this date, special attention is given to individuals, institutions and associations that have a mission to improve the lives of families of people with autism.

NLB Banka Sarajevo  financially supported the opening of the first Center for Autism “Meho Sadiković” in Tuzla. This is the first center of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina that opened its doors to users this year, and on this important date gathered all those for whom April 2 is extremely important.

“We at NLB Bank believe that the world is guided by the heart, a world full of opportunities. We are proud of our commitment to, in addition to providing financial services to clients, also support the community in which we live and work. Sustainable development is of particular importance to us and we try to meaningfully integrate it into more and more of our activities, especially in the area of society and community. We are aware of our responsibility and want to be an example, which is why our contribution to the opening of the first Center for Autism in Bosnia and Herzegovina is of particular importance. It is truly incredible how much potential and energy is hidden in our community, which through projects like these we are turning into a home full of opportunities” , said Asmir Kovačević, director of the Tuzla branch of NLB Bank dd, Sarajevo.

The center was named after Meha Sadiković, father of a child with autism and president of the Association of Parents of Children and Persons with Autism in Tuzla. After his death, the functions of the first person of the Association were taken over by his daughter, Emina Altumbabić, who is also the director of the Center named after her father.

“I am extremely proud that our goal and dream has come true and now we have a high-quality center for the realization of all necessary activities with people with autism. On this day, we pay respect and raise awareness of the needs of people with autism and their families, and we are extremely happy that the Center can finally provide the services it was intended for. At the moment, we have 12 experts who in different ways take care of 14 people who have been diagnosed with one of the disorders on the autism spectrum, and we have the goal of eventually expanding our staffing capacity and thus receiving as many users as possible.” , pointed out Emina Altumbabić, director of the Center.

NLB Banka Sarajevo continuously provides significant support to associations and institutions that work with people with developmental disabilities, with the aim of improving the quality of life of people in the community.
