American Councils for International Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina implements several programs, including this year’s Women’s STEP program, intended for students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to actively and successfully find a job, but also provides a number of participants with their first business experience (internship).
What is it really about?
American Councils in Bosnia and Herzegovina is launching a new cycle of STEP programs, titled the Women’s Student Training and Empowerment (STEP) program. The program is funded by a grant from the United States Department of State. Women’s STEP is a free program designed to educate female students by helping them gain their first work experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Women’s STEP offers participants the opportunity to get acquainted with the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina and gain the work experience and skills they will need to succeed in any future job search.
Through Women’s STEP participants get the opportunity to acquire the following skills: – Writing a CV and cover letter – How to fill out a job application – Basic IT skills and tools needed in the modern job market – Communication, public speaking and giving presentations – Basic manners in the modern business world; – How to excel at every interview.
A total of 40 participants who are currently studying at universities in Banja Luka or Sarajevo will attend a three-day training, during which they will be provided with accommodation and food. After the training, a number of program participants will have the opportunity, through the help of our office, to find a company/NGO with the aim to gain work experience. During the internship, participants receive a symbolic monthly stipend, to cover transportation costs and other daily expenses.
Applications are open until November 8 and are available at: http://ais.americancouncils.org/STEP
