Municipality of Ilijaš donated 20,000 KM to SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Municipality of Ilijaš donated 20,000 KM to SOS Children’s Villages in BiH with the aim of covering part of the expenses of one family. With the signing of the donation agreement, the new friendship between the organization and the Municipality of Ilijaš was made official, and on that occasion, Mayor Akif Fazlić visited SOS Children’s Village Sarajevo, where he met with the national director of the organization, Malik Garibija.

“We feel responsible towards SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina because we highly value the work of the organization and we want to support the work, aware of the fact that Ilijaš Municipality has a really difficult social structure of the population and that 18 children from our municipality are growing up in SOS Children’s Villages. We believe that this is the beginning of friendship and our permanent support for the organization because we think that as a local community we can contribute to ensuring better conditions for children and young people. We are looking forward to continued cooperation and are happy that we will continue to be partners in the humanitarian mission in the future”, said the Mayor of Ilijaš Municipality, Akif Fazlić.

“At SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we provide accommodation and care for children and young people without parental care from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we try to build strong partnerships with local communities and municipalities from which children and young people come. One of the valuable partners is the Municipality of Ilijaš, which allocated a total of 20,000 KM from the Municipality Budget for the year 2023 to cover part of the expenses of one family from SOS Children’s Village Sarajevo. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to the Municipality of Ilijaš and Mayor Akif Fazlić, who recognized the needs of children and young people. We are sure that together with the right partners, such as Ilijaš Municipality, we will contribute to ensuring a happy childhood and a better future for children and young people without parental care”, said Malik Garibija, national director of SOS Children’s Villages in BiH.

After signing the contract, representatives of Ilijaš Municipality had the opportunity to visit a family from SOS Children’s Village Sarajevo. The organization SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides care for 196 children and young people, and through the Family Strengthening Program, it directly supports socially vulnerable families.
