Members of the Mostar Diving Club visited the “Antun Branko Šimić” Elementary School in Mostar on Wednesday on World Water Day.
In front of the packed amphitheater of the school, an education on environmental awareness of the preservation of rivers, lakes and seas was presented, and through the lecture it was also learned how divers clean the seabed and contribute to the preservation of nature.
About a hundred children followed the lecture with great attention, and they received interesting facts about autonomous diving from diver Toni Knezović, who for this occasion put on a diving suit and autonomous equipment in order to present diving in the best way.
Also, the children could enjoy underwater photos of the Dubrovnik submarine, and they were presented with opportunities to obtain good underwater photos and videos.
“Through this symbolic visit on the occasion of World Water Day, we wanted to once again point out to our young people about the protection of rivers and springs and how to preventively protect the natural beauty that surrounds us,” said club secretary Branislav Stojkić.
He also said that it is their wish that our underwater remains as beautiful as before.
“We will continue to be present in the field both through environmental actions and through various educations,” Stojkić added.
This is just one type of activity that the Mostar Diving Club has been carrying out lately, and in addition to environmental volunteerism, education about environmental protection and educating new divers, experienced instructors in the club actively train their members-divers in water rescue through the civil protection unit of the City of Mostar and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
“Let’s take care of our nature, so that we can pass it on, preserved and clean, to the next generations that come after us,” said the Mostar Diving Club.
World Water Day is celebrated every year on March 22 to draw the attention of people around the world to the importance of water conservation.
