Painter Mirela Kulović, co-founder of the Culture Association Kontrast, was a guest lecturer at the Metropolitan University Prague, where she presented three successfully implemented projects: Women Poets in Focus, Cultural Event Stolac and Young Writers of Zenica-Doboj Canton. She spoke about the missions of these projects, their goals and results, as well as their impact on culture and art in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During her presentation, Mirela also referred to the future development of these projects.
“The three mentioned projects implemented by the Culture Association Kontrast were successful on several levels and were financed in several different ways. They connected the cultural scene in BiH with the diaspora in the United States. Through these projects, we have given women space to talk about their artistic practice as well as the position of artists and poets in BiH. We enabled a joint performance of five young authors from five different cities with musicians in Stolac. We provided an opportunity for elementary school children to express themselves in writing and share their stories. Acting in various ways and listening to the needs of people in the community, we choose and create ways to involve people in cultural and artistic production and experience. We hope and want these projects to gain a wider dimension in the next few years and find participants and beneficiaries throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, and preferably diaspora”, said the painter Mirela Kulović, who as a guest lecturer at the Metropolitan University in Prague held a presentation via a video call from Boston.
