Call for applications – Workshop: “Political responsibility and how to demand it vol. 3”

Apply for a five-day workshop – political responsibility and how to demand it, for young people from Brčko District:

VERY IMPORTANT!

The workshop will be held in accordance with the measures of protection against the spread of COVID-19. Your, our and public health is a priority in relation to the current situation, so we must responsibly respect the rules and measures together.

More details (and again briefly) about the program:

Through civic political activism, we have identified one problem – many citizens, and even elected officials, both in local and parliamentary elections, do not know much about the functioning of the state and all its levels, competencies, processes. Practically speaking, you will learn who is in charge of what, whose jurisdiction is the park, lighting, highway, EU integration. You will find out who to ask and who to call if you don’t like the road, if you don’t like tax policy, if your municipality pays half a million BAM to set up 10 benches in the main square of your local community.

You will also find out the answer to the question: “HOW?”. How can you, as a citizen, participate, get informed, put pressure through direct communication, demand, lobby and, in the end, how to communicate with the public, if our rational and realistic expectations are not met.

Also, all participants of the workshop will be supported to share what they have learned in their local communities after the workshop.

Who?

People aged 18-35 from Brčko District, active in the local communities they come from – students, high school students, employees or not.

Socially engaged persons, who will initiate a civic initiative upon completion of workshops and acquired knowledge upon return to their local communities.

When?

April 07 – 12, 2021 – admitted participants will be contacted until April 01, 2021.

Where?

Information on the location of the workshop will be communicated to the admitted participants, in accordance with the COVID-19 protection measures in force at that time.

Who is the organizer?

Team gathered around the campaign “Sjašite” – Šatro.info, CAT BiH & Mreža aktivističkih promjena – MAP

What will we do during the workshop?

Get acquainted with the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina – from the state to the local levels, clarify who does what and why, who is responsible and who pretends not to be. Brainstorm how to communicate with those who are responsible, what we can and must ask of them. Continue to communicate and implement what has been learned after the workshop.

How to apply?

Fill out the google form and send a short motivation letter in which you will tell us more about the civic initiative you plan to initiate after the workshop – tell us what is wrong in your local community and how to change it. You should send a motivation letter to sjasite2020@gmail.com by March 31, 2021. Also, you need to fill out a short form on the link: REGISTRATION FOR WORKSHOP # SJAŠITE.

(Motivational – don’t overdo it, you are not applying to Harvard. One page of text is enough.)
