The Solidarity Fund “Hasna”, headed by Vahidin Mulamustafić, recently launched an action to renovate the house of Todor Dmitrović, a longtime geography teacher at the “Braća Lazić” Elementary School in Janja.

Teacher Todor remained in the fondest memories of generations of students, who decided to help him in moments when his house was in a very bad condition.

Difficult living conditions

– The teacher told me that the house was built in 1966. After the floods in 2014, the building sagged, the wall cracked and his living conditions are really difficult – says Vahidin Mulamustafić.

In the house located in the center of Janja, teacher Todor lives with his wife Dobrila, who earned her pension in the former garment factory “Kurjak” from Bijeljina. Pensions are small, the Dmitrovićs cannot get a loan, and they were thrilled by the initiative of the people from Janja, who decided to help their neighbors again.

Emotionally responded to the news

– I am so happy. Of course, I responded emotionally when I heard the news. And I remember my students… There were so many of them – says Todor Dmitrović, a favorite teacher from Janja.

Dobrila and Todor have a daughter and a son, and their grandson, who is studying in Bijeljina, currently lives with them. Very soon, their house should get new windows, a roof, a facade, gutters… This is another example of multiethnic cooperation of citizens, and Janja is, in BiH, well-known for it.
