1) Dear Des, you speak 5 languages. Can you share with us which ones? I think speaking different languages is a true treasure, what does that mean to you? Do you have advice for others who think that learning other languages is hard and have fear of not using them correctly? How would you inspire them?
My mother tongue is Albanian, but my mother is francophone and raised me in French. Thus, from a very young age, I understood that speaking several languages is a beautiful asset.
In Kosovo, especially in Prishtina, everyone speaks English, it is more than a language, it is a working tool, and many young people communicate in English. I also studied at the American University, so it is only natural that I mastered this language.
In high school, I went to a college where we were taught Turkish as a foreign language. Very few students learned it, but I immediately thought it was a very good opportunity to learn my grandmother’s language!
At university, I had the chance to study Italian, a European language, and a language of culture. Certainly, my professor’s teaching methodology made it not a difficult task, but a pleasure instead…
This year I have also started with Serbian lessons, in order to be able to understand and communicate with other communities in my country and the Balkans.
That is why, languages are one of the greatest assets that I have, and I won’t stop.
Nowadays, we are offered endless opportunities, it is important to notice them and work hard!
Believe me, it is totally worth it!
2) You are, also, studying different faculties as you once explained: “French Language and Literature at The University of Prishtina, as well as Engineering of Efficient Energy at the University for Business and Technology. This year you have received an associate degree from RIT Kosovo in Public Policy & Governance.” We can have it all, right? What are the key points to manage all of our career interests?
Throughout this period of dedication to building the future I dream of, I mainly commit myself to studies, extracurricular activities, my loved ones (myself included). There are a lot of topics that interest me and I feel fulfilled when I gain new knowledge. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that there’s time for everything. All it takes is being effective and efficient, knowing how to organize, and being passionate. For me, the key to success has been and still is managing stress, time, and spending time with the people I love, as well as focusing on my well-being. I would like to highlight that there is no magic key, everyone has to work a lot, and working with oneself is crucial. People must seek within themselves what needs to be improved or strengthened. This way, we can all reach our specific aspirations.
3) You are one the most ambitious young people I know and I fully support that. So, I would like to ask you to share with us the vision/mission of your life? Do you have some long-term goals you are going to achieve or?
First, thank you very much for your support, dear Belma. People like you motivate me to try even harder! Professionally, my greatest aspiration is to become a notable diplomat and represent my country! On a personal level, my goal is to thank my loved ones for their endless love and support throughout my life, by making them happy and fulfilling their needs and wishes. Having said this, my other goal is to manage to ensure the privileges that were given to me by my parents, to others who did not have the same opportunities as me, so that their aspirations become reality!
