“I would like to make a questionnaire, for young people to answer the questions of what they need in our local environment. That would give us input on which direction to go first and what to work on. Not every environment is the same, the questions are numerous, we must first conduct research on what young people in our environment need, and we will certainly do that in cooperation with the KULT Institute.” This was said by Alen Petkovic, an official in the Department for Strategic Planning, European Integration and Local Economic Development of the City of Doboj, after the completion of the first module of the Training of Youth Officers in Local Self-Government Units.
“I have gained so much experience with this training, considering that many things were unknown to me. Now I am somehow full of motivation and zeal to apply it in my local community. I hope that I will have the support of the people who make decisions in our City Administration, to implement at least one part of what we have learned here, and the range is really wide. Step by step, we will certainly do something for a better future for our young people”, added Petkovic.
The 1st module of the Training of Youth Officers in Local Self-Government Units started on May 23 in Jahorina, and ended today. The youngest participant comes from the Brcko District of BiH.
“I can change a lot after the acquired knowledge in this training. As soon as I come to Brcko, I will share my experiences with my colleagues and start working on some new ideas”, said Amira Halilovic, expert officer for youth issues in the Department for Professional Administrative Affairs of the Brčko District.
The participant from Livno believes that if we want to do something new, we need to learn together, exchange experiences, as it was the case during the training which was organized by the KULT Institute.
“I also cover youth issues within my portfolio. I gained great acquaintances with people who have already implemented some youth strategies, new knowledge and skills were provided by the Institute for Youth Development, which has long experience in working with young people, as well as all mechanisms important for youth development”, concludes Andjelka Knezevic, Assistant Mayor for General and Social Activities of the City of Livno.
The training, which is designed through the implementation of five equal modules, and which will be implemented in the period from May to October, is attended by 19 officials from the Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and the Brcko District of BiH.
