The center was opened within the project “Sustainable beekeeping for marginalized families and rural population” which is jointly implemented by the Jajce Municipality and the Muslim Aid Association Sarajevo.
The location of the center is located in the village of Vinac, and within this project, three trained workers were hired. In the area of Jajce, more than 100 beekeepers with more than 4,000 hives have been registered, who are entitled to municipal incentives for the development of beekeeping, which is why the value of this project is multiple.
The two-year project includes training, but also a donation of bee colonies for eleven users, and an equipped bee center in which hourly bases that will be produced is of immense importance. The associations of beekeepers ‘Roj’ and ‘Propolis’ operating in the area of the Jajce Municipality were given equipment for the production of hourly bases and honey fillers, thus officially opening the Jajce Beekeeping Center.
“The hourly basis is the simplest medium in which all production takes place inside the hive. In fact, we can say that the hourly basis is the lungs of one hive. If those lungs are not healthy as in the human body, the whole organism suffers and the whole organism hurts”, the project coordinator Admir Hodžić emphasized.
The value of the project only for the Jajce Municipality is 130,000 BAM, and the same project is being implemented in Hadžići and Livno, so the value of this project is 400,000 BAM.
“In the continuation of the project, next year, with the awarding of the remaining equipment and bee societies, it is planned to create recognizable packaging in the process of branding honey from the Jajce Municipality and organize and participate in fairs where users will have the opportunity to get to know the work of beekeepers.” it was announced by the Jajce Municipality.
The mayor of Jajce, Edin Hozan, further emphasized the importance of this project, adding that it is a big step forward for beekeeping at the local level.
“I am sure that our associations will know how to use this valuable equipment in the right way and thus improve beekeeping, which is important and useful. The Jajce Municipality will continue to support beekeepers, with the goal of developing and expanding the number of companies and increasing production,” said Hozan.
This year, due to the extremely difficult period for beekeeping, the Jajce Municipality additionally provided financial support to beekeepers who reported damage on their apiaries.
