The Institute for Youth Development KULT organized an educational trip for three best teams, winners of the 100-day local community development challenge #100DayChallenge.
The teams spent two days at the Milo Selo farm near Lukavac. The farm covers an area of 25 hectares, and the main goal is to promote and enable citizens’ healthy living habits, from consuming completely healthy, natural products that the farm offers, to the opportunity to enjoy and relax in the charms of nature and fresh mountain air. During the two-day stay, the participants got acquainted with the processes of organic production and processing, but also participated in some of the processes.
For Muhamed Mulić representative of the Youth Development Association Albatros and his team that won first place, this educational trip is, as he says, a completely new experience.
I would like to express special gratitude on behalf of the Youth Development Association Albatros for organizing this trip which we enjoyed. I can say that we have only words of praise. Participation in this initiative has brought us multiple benefits, from kick-off seminars, through the realization of our activities and webinars, we have learned many things that we already use in our work, and that we will use in the future. We also met new young people from other organizations in BiH and heard the problems they face in their communities. We are a newly established association and this was our first project, so winning the challenge has a special weight. This is an ideal opportunity for us, young people and our organizations to establish cooperation and work together in the future to improve the position of young people. The Institute for Youth Development KULT has really justified its name when it comes to youth development.
As part of the trip, a final event was organized where young participants of the #100DayChallenge, in a slightly different, real rural environment, presented the results and positive stories they started by implementing their initiatives in local communities.
In her online address, the Director of the Public Relations Office of the United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Allyson Algeo, congratulated the young people on the successful implementation of the initiatives and the results achieved.
We believe that a generation of new leaders willing to engage in their communities to be active members of this young democracy will move Bosnia and Herzegovina forward, and encourage others to do the same. We often hear people complain about how politicians only care about themselves. You, as the next generation of leaders, can change that. You can choose general interest instead of personal and community instead of division. Projects like #100DayChallenge find ways to mobilize your strength to put your ideas into practice. These projects can start on a small scale, but they are an important step in moving forward, as they show how to become part of the solution.
Za Dajanu Tiragić iz udruženja Most iz Gradiške edukativno putovanje bilo je sjajna prilika da se saberu utisci.
For Dajana Tiragić, representative of the association Most from Gradiška, the educational trip was a very good opportunity to gather impressions.
After winning second place in the #100DayChallenge my team and I were given the opportunity to be part of an educational journey. This was a very interesting experience for us and it also helped us to gather impressions about the implementation of the project and to see how much we actually learned. As we devised the presentation, things started to come on their own place and we were actually surprised when we became aware of how much we had learned. I think that, thanks to this project, we are now ready to implement some even bigger projects on our own, without anyone’s help. I am glad that we shared with others the outstanding results we have achieved in our local community and showed the interest of young people in our idea. This trip is a reward for our efforts and we are very proud to have been a part of the #100DayChallenge, Dajana added.
The #100DayChallenge initiative is organized and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This initiative enabled young people involved in the work of local youth organizations to implement activities aimed at solving specific problems and improving the position of young people in local communities in 100 days of challenges. The initiative empowered young people and local youth organizations to use knowledge and skills in order to motivate and involve all stakeholders.
Once empowered, these local actors will continue to work and participate in local development even after the initiative is completed.
