Young politicians stronger for the upcoming elections!

In order for young politicians to successfully campaign during local elections, it is necessary for them to understand how election campaigns are prepared and conducted. In addition to skills, today it is necessary to understand the use of social networks, cooperation with journalists and the media, and to have advanced knowledge of communicating with different groups that young politicians address.

Through the year 2024,  the Institute for Youth Development KULT is cooperating with 18 young politicians  so that they will advocate youth issues through the preparation and implementation of the election campaign, but also after the local elections in 2024.

The third training module Learn, think and act! for political leaders focused on a better understanding of the political and electoral system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the development of an advocacy plan and the preparation of the election campaign.

“This training taught me many things, and in addition to the opportunity to meet important people for decision-making in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it also provided me with outstanding, talented young people who inspired me with their ideas. I believe that this module was an excellent opportunity to improve the political image and I recommend every young person not to miss every opportunity like this ,” says Tijana Jelena Lovrić, HDZ BiH from Kiseljak.

Through the module, the training participants had the opportunity to talk with an active young person and get additional ideas and knowledge about creating content for social networks. The guest journalist of Nova BiH, Tahir Žustra, spoke to young politicians about the importance of presence on the networks and how to make the content closer and more useful to voters during the campaign.

“At this training, I understood – young politicians are not the future, but the present. This experience gave me a clear message: if we want real changes, we must be at the center of events. We learned how to be louder, more visible and braver in the fight for what we believe in. Without the active involvement of young people, there is no progress – we are a force that will certainly reshape the political scene” , stated Vanja Tanasić, SNSD, currently a member of the Doboj City Assembly.

The third module stood out because the participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in writing an advocacy document based on the real needs and problems of young people in the communities where the participants come from. At the same time, they thought about concrete steps to create a campaign for local elections.

“UMiDp is a project of acquaintance and knowledge that remains for a lifetime. Quality speakers imparted their knowledge to us, which is difficult to acquire in formal education. My message to young people is: Get active by participating in UMiDp, you will make quality use of your free time. It’s time for the personal development of young people in our country!” , said Ahmed Hodžić, NiP.

Through this training, the Institute wants to support young politicians to build a recognizable and positive image that will enable them to stand out in local elections.

UMiD for Youth Political Leaders (UMiDp) is the Institute’s program for youth political leaders from 18 to 30 years of age, who come from different political parties and different local communities. Through 15 days of training, young politicians   acquire knowledge and skills that help them improve their activities, especially in the field of youth rights. During the training, they have the opportunity to theoretically and practically learn about the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to improve their knowledge for active advocacy for a better position of young people. Through training, they build their political image which is different, more innovative and more acceptable to their peers.
