“It is our duty to inform the public that the construction of the SHPP on the Buna has not been abandoned. In the attachment, we are publishing a document for a public hearing on water consent,” said the Association Majski cvijet from Mostar, reports Bljesak.
As it can be seen in the published document, the Department for Issuing Water Maps of the Adriatic Sea Water Agency has scheduled an oral hearing on issuing a preliminary water permit for SHPP Buna 1 and Buna 2 at the request of investors in Hercegovina-građevinsko zanatstvo.
Activists, who have been warning about these activities for years and years, have been opposed to the construction, saying it is clear that this is a protected area.
However, it happened that in 2012, the possibility of building SHPP facilities was included in the amendments to the spatial plan of the City of Mostar. Namely, at its session in December last year, the Mostar City Council adopted a Decision instructing the person in charge of drafting the Amendments to the Spatial Plan to amend the Plan from the Buna 1 and Buna 2 sites, Spatial plan of the City of Mostar and prevent the construction of SHPP Buna 1 and Buna 2.
Cantonal Prime Minister Nevenko Herceg also mentioned this topic, saying that he was also in favor of not allowing construction, but the opposition accused him of blocking the activities of terminating the concession agreement for the construction of SHPPs and that he was the strongest opponent of any opposition. Although promises have been made from both the city and cantonal levels that nothing will happen from the construction, the investor is obviously not giving up.
