The Institute for Youth Development KULT held a training on sustainability of organizations

The training was held within the USAID/Localworks Capacity Development Activity project implemented by the Institute and supported by USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sustainability of organization is key to the long-term effectiveness and efficiency of civil society organizations. The training is based on theoretical foundations and practical exercises and case studies that participants will be able to apply in their organization primarily to eliminate internal organizational problems. During the training, the topics of strategic planning and creation of a strategic plan of the organization, improving organizational processes, building the culture and brand of the organization, risk management and similar topics were covered.

The training was intended for persons coming from partner organizations that cooperate in the Snaga lokalnog Program (USAID/LWCDA), the Human Rights Support Program (USAID/INSPIRE) or other USAID programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Given the current epidemiological situation, and the recommendations of the competent Crisis headquarters, training was limited to 18 people.

Aida Pašić, representative and coordinator of PRONI Youth Club Cazin, one of the participants of the training pointed out that she especially liked learning through practical examples and the fact that they as participants had the task to make a plan for an organization on a given topic. In addition, she added that through this training she could clearly see her weak points and what she can and should improve.

One of the participants who expressed her enthusiasm is Anita Šimić, a representative of the Network of Active Communities from Tuzla.

“The network of active communities is in a transitional phase. We founded the organization, and now we are in the growth phase. What we have noticed is that we do not know how to manage all the challenges that growth and development brings with it. The most interesting topic for me is the structure of the organization, the division of responsibilities and jobs. Many of us, before this training, were not aware of how important our strategic decisions are for the future of the organizations in which we work.”

In the coming period, the Institute plans to organize additional trainings for partner associations and foundations in order to continue to strengthen organizations, but also their employees. The activities implemented through the Snaga lokalnog in Bosnia and Herzegovina aim to strengthen and support local NGOs.
