The City of Ljubuški allocated 177,000 BAM for projects in the field of culture and sports

The Mayor of the City of Ljubuški, Vedran Markotić, signed contracts worth 177,000 BAM on the allocation of budget funds of the City of Ljubuški for projects in the field of culture and sports for 2021.

Based on the conducted public calls, a total of 50 project applications were approved – 27 in the field of culture worth 77,000 BAM and 23 in the field of sports worth 100,000 BAM, the City of Ljubuški announced.

For the first time, we conducted a public call for funding and it turned out to be a complete success. We had a great number of applicants from the field of sports and culture who care about culture and our customs. A commission reviewed received project proposals. Today, we completed that process by signing contracts. The funds will be transferred very quickly, as they indicated in their applications“, said Mayor Vedran Markotić, hoping that next year the amounts for both sports and culture will be much higher.

The allocation of funds from the budget will certainly facilitate the work of sports clubs and associations.

I think it is good that associations and sports clubs know that they can count on the support of the City of Ljubuški, that they know how much support there is and that they do not depend on anyone’s will and requests but can plan their activities and projects during the year,” Markotić explained, congratulated them on their activities so far and wished them success in their future work, implementation of projects and achievement of all set goals.

Among the grant winners is the Ljubuški Cycling Club, whose member Dragana Matić is the new BiH champion in the XCO discipline in the category of younger cadets. The club is making significant efforts to promote cycling in these areas.

We are trying to introduce sports to children, and the results are visible, which we are very happy about,” said the president of CC Ljubuški Mirko Luburić.

Applicants are also satisfied with the implementation of public calls for allocation of funds.

The act of signing a contract for the allocation of funds in the field of culture is really specific. Since our association is one of the oldest here in Ljubuški in terms of culture and sports, we know that during the past 22 years funds were allocated in a different way. However, today it really looked like a very interesting event,” said Jakov Begić, president of the Carnival Society Prolog, who thanked for the support and invited everyone to the upcoming 23rd Ljubuški Carnival.
