On the occasion of Easter – the feast of Christ’s resurrection, the mayor of Bihać Elvedin Sedić and his colleagues visited the nuns of the Order of Worshipers of the Blood of Christ, the monastery of St. Josip and the parish office of St. Anthony of Padua in Bihać. On that occasion, he got acquainted with the work of these institutions of the Catholic Church, promised the help of the City Administration in overcoming difficulties and congratulated the nuns and priests of this parish on the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
The nuns of the Order of Adorers of the Blood of Christ, led by Sister Blanka Šturm, cordially hosted a delegation from the City Administration of Bihać in the monastery, which included, in addition to Mayor Elvedin Sedić, Councilor Franjo Jurić and Head of the Department for Religious and Local Communities Elmedin Mehadžić. The sisters introduced them to their many years of activity, especially the work of the Library of St. Josipa, which owns a rich collection of books, and for which they received several new titles on this occasion.
– We are glad that the mayor visited us, and for the first time we are meeting him, and it is a great honor for our house and that he found time and love to visit us, to listen to us and to somehow get closer together and get to know each other – she said s. Blanka Šturm, leader of the Community of Worshipers of the Blood of Christ in Bihać.
In addition to the nuns, a delegation from the City Administration also visited the parish office of St. Ante Padovanski, parish priest Fr. Ivan Tučić and parish vicar Fr. Ivan Lovrić. This continued the good practice of cooperation between the Parish Office and the City Administration. On this occasion, the parish priest presented to his guests a preliminary project for the restoration of the bell tower of the church of St. Anthony of Padua in the old city center.
– We have already sent the conceptual solution to the Ministry of Spatial Planning FBIH. The Ministry should give approval, that is, issue an urban planning permit, within sixty days. After that, we proceed to the preparation of the main implementation project for the restoration of the bell tower itself, and after that we also ask for a construction permit from the City and finally start with the restoration of the bell tower itself – says Fr. Ivan Tučić, parish priest of St. Anthony of Padua in Bihać.
It will be necessary to invest considerable resources in the restoration of the bell tower. It is a million-dollar project for which it is not yet known how much it will cost. The conceptual solution of the project alone cost 51,000 KM.
– In addition to the cultural-historical and religious importance for the city of Bihać, it is also a tourist potential that we will be able to make available to our fellow citizens, as well as to tourists who will visit the city of Bihać, and I believe that it will be a success story – says Elvedin Sedić. the mayor of Bihać.
During his visit to the Parish Office, he announced the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between the City Administration and local religious communities in order to improve it and implement joint activities as best as possible. He wished all the Catholics of Bihać a happy and blessed Easter.
