Street Arts Festival in Mostar hosts ROUTE WB6 volunteers

The street art festival, which is being held in Mostar for the tenth time, will host volunteers from Albania, Kosovo*, Montenegro and Serbia as part of the ROUTE WB6 volunteer exchange program.

The Street Arts Festival was launched by young enthusiasts, artists and activists gathered around a common idea to help and encourage the regenerative processes of space and society and to bring positive stories and art to the streets of a divided city. In its ten years of existence, the Street Arts Festival has revived many abandoned spaces and ruins throughout the city into works of art by a large number of local and world artists. The festival has built a community of artists and a street art scene which is why it has a reputation as one of the largest open-air galleries in the region.

By signing a cooperation agreement with the Institute for Youth Development KULT, the Street Arts Festival hosted ROUTE WB6 volunteers from the region. Ten young and motivated volunteers will spend 7 days in Mostar where they will participate in the preparations and holding of the tenth edition of the festival.

During the festival and their volunteer engagement, volunteers will develop skills in a creative way, acquire new knowledge, and by attending intercultural activities organized by the festival in cooperation with OKC Abrašević, these young people will have the opportunity to get to know the history, culture and tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Regional Volunteering Program – ROUTE WB6 uses cross-border volunteering as a mechanism to overcome social and ethnic barriers among young people in the region, and strengthens European social values that promote reconciliation, stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT is the contact point of the program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and part of a consortium led by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office RYCO in cooperation with organizations from the Western Balkans. The project is implemented with the support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
