Tree for a Friend Initiative 2021
Plant a “Tree for a Friend” in memory of your loved one, who left you too soon and whose kindness and nobility you want to spread in your local community through the canopy of new trees. Donate funds for the purchase of one or more seedlings that we will plant at the end of October this year.
The “Tree for a Friend” initiative aims to inspire citizens to take action in making healthier, more beautiful and more humane communities. In collaboration with volunteers, friends, donors and supporters, we want to plant new tree seedlings in our local communities in Tuzla Canton, in memory of the humane people who left us too early, who inspired and motivated us throughout our lives to boldly step through life and to believe in love, nobility and friendship. We expect that the planting will awaken the interest of local communities to actively act in the process of creating a healthier and more pleasant environment in the long run and contribute to sustainable urban development of cities in our country.

The challenge
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped lives around the world, especially in urban areas. In the face of another uncertain winter, we decided to return to the truly important things. Not wanting to allow oblivion and the pandemic to swallow our memories, we are determined to plant a tree for friends this year as well, because in today’s dehumanized times we need healthy nature and humane society the most.
The solution
On October 29, 2021, marking the World Cities Day, the Tuzla Community Foundation will in cooperation with the youth movement “Let’s Do It”, volunteers and activists of RK “Tuzlak”, with the support of JKP Komunalac and with the family of our beloved Angelina, who left us too early, will re-launch the joint initiative “Tree for a Friend – tree for Angelina 2021”. This year’s location for tree planting action is Krečanska Street, across from TC “Bingo”.
Long-term impact/results
For the sixth year in a row, the Tuzla Community Foundation is organizing the tree planting actions in Tuzla as part of the “Tree for a Friend – Tree for Angelina” campaign. In previous years, volunteers and activists of the Foundation planted about 1,000 seedlings in Tuzla and Tuzla Canton. Today, seedlings of maple, birch, poplar, pear and apple grow proudly in the yards of cultural centers, schools and parks.
