In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a new beautiful and vivid mural was created near the main city promenade – Wilson’s Promenade. The mural “Our Heroes” is the result of illustration and design workshops that took place over the past month as part of the fifth Pop Art Festival.
The participants of the workshops, under the mentorship of Vanesa Prodanović, Edin and Emir Durmišević, created motifs from the literary works of the eight authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina – Mak Didzar, Meša Selimović, Ivo Andrić, Rodoljub Čolaković, Veselin Masleša, Isak Samokovilija and Branko Ćopić.
The final work, i.e., a collage of motifs and sketches designed by the participants, was transferred to the public space and painted by street artist and muralist Vedran Poričanin from Obojena klapa.
This is the third mural designed by the participants of the Pop Art Festival workshops, which adorns the buildings in Sarajevo. Along with the mural dedicated to Davorin Popović in Radićeva Street and the mural “Our Future” in Dobrinja, “Our Heroes” will become a new artistic and tourist destination.
The Citizens’ Association POGON, which has been organizing the Pop Art Festival for the fifth year in a row, has provided an opportunity for hundreds of young people to discover or improve their talents through creative workshops. In addition to creative workshops, the Pop Art Festival offers its visitors every year an exceptional program that deals with topics from contemporary Bosnian popular art, but also art works enjoyed by citizens and visitors of Sarajevo.
The Pop Art Festival is funded by a grant from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States of America.
