New Erasmus+ 2021-2027 youth program published

The long-awaited new youth program Erasmus Plus 2021-2027 was published on Thursday, March 25, 2021 together with the Erasmus+ Programme Guide for the first calendar year of the program.

The new Erasmus + program offers study abroad opportunities, professional practice, additional education and exchange of staff in all areas of education and training of young people. It is intended for students, students in vocational education and training and adult education, young people, people working with young people and sports coaches.

In addition to mobility, for which 70% of the budget is provided, the new program also invests in international projects. This can be in the form of cooperation between universities, teaching staff, adult education centers, youth organizations, youth organizations and sports organizations, vocational education and training organizers and other actors in the field of education and training.

Main features of the Erasmus + program for the period 2021-2027

Inclusion: a better offer for people with fewer opportunities, including people from different cultural backgrounds and different socio-economic backgrounds and people living in rural and remote areas. Individual and classroom student exchanges and mobility for students in the field of adult education are some of the new opportunities available within the new program. Thanks to the new opportunity for small partnerships and simplified procedures, it will be easier for smaller organizations, such as schools, youth associations and sports clubs, to apply. The program will also have a stronger international component through cooperation with third countries, building on the success of the previous program with exchange and cooperation projects around the world, which are now being extended to the sports and vocational education and training sectors.

Digitization: Due to the pandemic, accelerating the digital transition of the education system has become very important. Participation in quality digital education and exchanges will be facilitated through the eTwinning platforms, the School Education Gateway and the European Youth Portal and will encourage professional practice in the digital sector. The new formats will allow short-term physical mobility to be combined with learning and teamwork via the Internet.

Environment+: In line with the European Green Plan, the program offers financial incentives to participants who choose sustainable modes of transport. Investments will also be made in projects dealing with informing the public about environmental problems and facilitating exchanges related to climate change mitigation.

All of the above in the program is presented through three key activities.

The program was presented on Thursday with the first official call available HERE. More information about the call is available in the Guide HERE.

The text of the call is available in all official languages of the European Union.

Over the last three decades, participation in the Erasmus + program has stimulated personal, social and professional development of over 10 million young people. The new programming period will have almost double the budget and will run from 2021 to 2027.

Erasmus+ is a real success story and one of the most successful initiatives of the European Union. Since its founding in 1987, the program has expanded significantly. It covers all sectors of education and training, from early childhood education, formal education, to vocational education and training, higher education and adult education. In addition to education, the program pays special attention to youth policies, youth work, volunteering and sports promotion.
