The Institute for Youth Development KULT, through the Local Works initiative and the Organizational Capacity Building Program with the support of the USAID Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is organizing three additional trainings for representatives of civil society organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the past period, a total of 14 three-day trainings and two one-day workshops were realized, which were attended by representatives of more than 80 different civil society organizations from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The goal of all trainings and educations is to create conditions for organizational sustainability and capacity building that will lead to other systematic and carefully planned processes of the organization to start thinking and eventually reach the optimal level of sustainability. Thanks to the increased interest in certain training topics in the past period, as well as the need to enable organizations to learn about important topics regardless of partner status in this or other programs, the Institute will offer participation in three additional trainings in the next three months. Repeated trainings cover topics in the field of: procurement procedures, administration and human resources, and public information and media relations.
Applications for the first training are open from June 1, 2022. More information on other trainings and registration will be available one month before the following dates:
1. Procurement procedures (in the period from June 20 – 22, 2022)
- More information about the training and the registration link are available HERE.
2. Administration and human resources (in the period from July 18 – 20, 2022).
3. Public information and media relations (in the period from August 3 – 5, 2022).
We talked with two participants in the training, representatives of partner organizations within the USAID/LWCDA activities that work on improving living conditions in their local communities. During the conversation, they referred to the training and the benefits that learning on various topics brings to the organization:
“By participating in the organizational capacity building program, I got a clear picture of my organization’s current situation, but also guidelines for the future in which the organization becomes more competitive with donors and partners. The topics and contents of the training are harmonized and adjusted to the needs of each civil society organization. Whether you want to create new or strengthen existing capacities, you have little or some experience – trainings are designed and created through a program of strengthening organizational capacity to suit everyone’s needs. I have attended all the trainings, learned about topics that are crucial and existential, and I believe that I have acquired advanced managerial skills. Participation in trainings contributed to my self-confidence, but also to my ambition to be more useful in my organization in achieving program goals. Participation in this program brought us many acquaintances and the opportunity to learn from each other, to connect with each other in partnerships and networks,” said Anita Simic, Secretary General of the Network of Active Communities Tuzla.
In the second year of implementation of the program for strengthening organizational capacity, the Institute for Youth Development KULT included the partner organization Association for Education and Development ” Dignitet” from Mostar. We talked with the President of the Association Edisa Demic. You can read her observations on participation in the program below, as well as benefits it brings for organizational development:
“We, as a team of the Association for Education and Development “Dignitet” are grateful for the opportunity to participate in trainings organized by the Institute for Youth Development KULT. As an organization, we want to work diligently and in a planned way and develop the programs of the Association. As an organization, we want to work diligently and in a planned way and develop the programs of the Association, and these thematic trainings and consultations contribute to that, i.e., we strengthen organizational capacity to achieve our strategic goals and ensure sustainability. I would also like to emphasize the special importance of these trainings, which we recognize through networking, new partnerships and cooperation with various associations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have connected with a large number of associations, signed an agreement with some of them and we are really looking forward to future cooperation.”
Local Works is USAID’s global initiative with the aim to strengthen local actions that bring citizens together to address specific issues and improve their communities, cities, and ultimately states. LWCDA in Bosnia and Herzegovina supports local organizations in creating and nurturing more sustainable “self-help mechanisms” throughout the country, especially in areas where such mechanisms are less available.
We remind you that the Institute for Youth Development KULT, through carefully designed mentoring support provided to civil society organizations, with the support of USAID Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Local Works contributes to strengthening their internal organizational capacity. Mentoring support provided by the Institute includes several components such as: making recommendations based on organizational capacity assessment, developing a plan for improving organizational capacity with annual action plans, organizing thematically different trainings tailored to the needs of civil society organizations.
