Innovative teaching methods to improve work with students

The second training module  Learn, Think and Act! for the teaching and professional staff of secondary schools,  it was characterized by an excellent atmosphere, and all participants showed exceptional motivation to improve their knowledge, learn new teaching methods and techniques.

The UMiD training program for secondary school teaching and professional staff was developed in response to the need to support teachers and professional staff, and helps develop key skills for effective planning and implementation of learning processes based on experiential methods. The goal of this training is to enable participants to adopt innovative work methods and new techniques that will improve interaction with students and raise the quality of the educational process.

One of the participants, Biljana Rokvić, a pedagogue at the High School of Internal Affairs in Banja Luka, shared her impressions of the second module:  “The second training module took place in a relaxed and very pleasant atmosphere, which also contributed to the better mutual knowledge of the training participants. The learning and teaching strategies and methods and techniques that we worked on together with the trainers are applicable in teaching and extracurricular activities and will be of great importance for working with students. What, in my opinion, is of inestimable importance in both modules is the exchange of experiences with teachers and professional associates from other schools.”

During the three-day module, participants explored new strategies to improve their work with students and how to apply innovative and creative teaching methods that are effective and relevant. The main focus was on creating a stimulating environment that will motivate students and prepare them for continuous learning throughout their lives.

Mirza Bušatlić, a librarian at the mixed high school “Gimnazija” from Bugojno said: ” This module was more about practical work compared to the previous one, which I really liked. We dealt with various methods in the classroom and how to best apply them in working with children. What characterized this training module was the activity in the heart of Sarajevo and the competitive and research spirit of the group, which is sometimes needed by us teachers.”

The participants of the training also had the opportunity to talk with  Lamija Lapo , representative of  the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina . Lamija presented the work of ASuBiH, and she also talked with the participants about the challenges that high school students face every day.

Amra Bilajac Aucar, teacher of Islamic religious education at the “Hasan Kikić” Mixed High School from Gradačac, stated:  “It was an honor and a pleasure to participate in the second module of the UMiD training for teaching and professional staff of high schools with professionals in the field of upbringing and education. In this noble profession that lacks more major investments, it is wonderful to be surrounded by people who care about their competences in order to do their work in the best way. Many techniques that we practically applied and experienced in this part of the education will help me a lot in my work. I feel inspired. Everything was made easier because it was extremely fun. We learned a lot about ourselves and our learning styles, as well as the learning styles of our students. I believe that the skills that our professors have in education, if they continue to develop them, will help a lot in raising the quality of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Teachers and professional staff of secondary schools left this module equipped with new practical and applicable knowledge and inspired to apply and implement it in school classrooms. The Institute for Youth Development KULT, through promoting the exchange of experiences, creativity and personal development of secondary school staff, aims to improve education and society as a whole.
