The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the Minister of Economy, Samir Šibonjić, held a working meeting with the representatives of the Representation of the German Economy in BiH (AHK) and member companies of this chamber from the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Azra Ramić, Deputy Director of AHK, said that she appreciates that the initiative to establish institutional cooperation came from Prime Minister Pivić, not long after assuming the office of Prime Minister, and that there is a great interest in investing German capital in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She emphasized that the AHK is the largest bilateral chamber in BiH, which has been operating for 26 years, and that the interest of German companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina increased after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which caused economic disruption in Europe. She pointed out that Germany and BiH are traditionally linked, that BiH is an excellent investment location and that German companies want to find partners in BiH.
Such partnerships have already been established by certain companies from this canton, whose representatives attended this meeting in the prime minister’s office, and they are mostly companies from the developed metalworking sector, which is almost 100 percent export-oriented.
Prime Minister Pivić pointed out that this canton is open for large investments, which he demonstrated with the example of the newly opened mine in Vares of the British company Adriatic Metals.
– Investors can count on the full support of the ZDK Government. We want to be a service to investors and the economy, to strengthen existing companies, adapt the education system to the needs of the economy, and help local communities build infrastructure for new investments. Allocations for the economy have the best effect for the economy, and that is why we want businessmen to participate in the creation of our incentive measures – said Prime Minister Pivić.
Minister Samir Šibonjić pointed out that this government prioritizes the economy, which is the “engine of society”, and the Zenica-Doboj canton is the backbone of FBiH’s economic development. He also emphasized the determination to continuously increase incentives for the economy and introduce new incentive programs, which will help companies to increase their competitiveness on domestic and demanding foreign markets.
It was pointed out that after the opening of negotiations on our accession to the European Union, valuable European funds will be available to companies, and the ZDK Government is ready to hire consultants who will help domestic companies to implement applications for various projects.
The meeting also discussed the possible organized participation of companies from the Zenica-Doboj Canton at the “AHK Automotive Summit 2024” in Sarajevo, which will be held next month under the auspices of the German Embassy and the BiH Presidency, the ZDK Press Service announced.
