A group of young people gathered around the Ilidža initiative for a skate park together with the April Association organized a cleaning action of the skate park in Ilidža in the immediate vicinity of the OBI center.
– Our goal is to enable a place where young skaters and everyone else will spend their time, socialize, learn new things and through activities develop and improve their local community, said Haris Burić, initiator of the initiative and representative of BiH in FreeStyle disciplines.
In the following period, it is planned to continue working on this location, which will include rearranging the space into a skate park with furniture and arranging the surrounding green area, which is neglected, and which the local youth is committed to remodeling into an open sports and recreation center.
As the participants of today’s action emphasized, through such activities they want to draw attention to the needs of young people in Sarajevo Canton and hope that local community, city and cantonal leadership will recognize their enthusiasm and provide concrete support for the idea. This way, they also announced the celebration of the International Skateboarding Day in June, which promotes this sport, which in recent years has gained in popularity both in the world and in BiH.
