Early Christmas in the European Youth Capital

Having the opportunity to experience my first couple of youth exchanges most recently, left me excited to explore more of the region and create memorable moments with my peers not only from Europe but other parts of the world as well. Before my exchange in Bulgaria, I was familiar with the RYCO, this is why I decided to apply for the ROUTE WB6 program.

My first impression of Novi Sad would turn out to be a long-lasting one.
Various decorations on every corner alternating in the playful light and spirit of Christmas felt a bit unusual in early November in comparison to where I’m coming from, but after a brief stroll on “Freedom Square”, especially at night, I couldn’t imagine it the other way around!

Even though we couldn’t experience everything that Novi Sad had to offer due to Covid-19 measures, our group developed great chemistry in a short amount of time.

When we didn’t occupy the hotel lobby playing a game of UNO and learning multiple languages at once, we enjoyed our time with our favorite hot drinks in cafes that felt like home. We got to enjoy a bit of the autumn sun which made the Novi Sad Kej walk more enjoyable, along with almost suntanning on “Štrand” beach.

Oh yes, we also did a bit of volunteering, that’s why we came here in the first place, right?
We also gained so much more in the process, you had to be there to believe it. The best thing about it? You can, and I am hopeful you will take the opportunity to do so.
Happy volunteering!
