Today, the “Denis” Day Center for children and people with developmental disabilities was opened in Sarajevo, organized by the “Dajte na šančina” Association. The opening was attended by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Srđan Mandić together with his assistant Lejla Dizdarević.
-Canton Sarajevo will remember this day, because this is a big deal both for Canton Sarajevo and for families who have a member with developmental disabilities, for the Association “Give us a chance”, but also for me personally. With this, we want to show that when we have the right people, a sincere will and the right goal, it can be achieved, regardless of the many obstacles we had. This is the first project in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where different participants joined together and waited for us to celebrate together the opening of the first day center for children and people with developmental difficulties, said the director of the Association “Give us a chance” Ines Kavalec.
It is planned that this Center will provide services to children from preschool age to 18 years old, with a special focus on all-day care and additional professional support for those who need it. The vision includes putting every child at the center of social attention and providing support to those in need.
Mayor Mandić emphasized that the Municipality of Centar continues to provide support and pays great attention to organizations and institutions that deal with raising the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and other forms of disability.
Let us remind you that earlier, Mayor Mandić signed a contract for financial support in the amount of 35,000 KM to the Association “Give us a chance”.
The association “Give us a chance” is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded by parents of children with developmental disabilities, with the intention of working together to create better social conditions for a more comfortable life for their families and their children.
