The Tuzla Community Foundation, together with the founders of the Prometheus Fund, is announcing a public call for the award of scholarships to students of the University of Tuzla.
THE GOAL OF THE FUND is to help promising students of the University of Tuzla to complete their studies more easily, but also to promote the values of civil liberties, democracy, anti-fascism, secularism and solidarity through active action in the community.
WHO CAN APPLY AND WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS?
Candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Applicant is a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
- At the time of applying for a scholarship, the applicant is 18 to 25 years old,
- Applicant is enrolled for the first time in the second or higher year of undergraduate study at the University of Tuzla,
- Applicant has fulfilled all obligations from the previous scholarship agreement (if the applicant has previously been a scholarship holder of the Fund or other funds of the Foundation).
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA?
The Commission for the selection of scholarship holders will be guided by the following selection criteria, each of which carries a defined number of points (total 100 points), as follows:
- Engagement in the community so far (35 points)
- Economic status of the candidate (10 points)
- Success during previous study year (25 points)
- Essay (10 points)
- Cover letter (10 points)
- Interview with shortlisted candidates (10 points)
AMOUNT AND DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are awarded in the amount of 150 BAM per month per scholarship holder. Scholarships are awarded for a period of 12 months starting from the signing of the Scholarship Agreement or from the day prescribed by the Scholarship Agreement. The total value of the annual scholarship is 1,800 BAM.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?
When submitting a scholarship application, it is necessary to fill in the Scholarship Application Form (it can be found on the Foundation’s website), within which the candidate should, in addition to providing personal data:
- State if the applicant enrolled in the second or higher year of undergraduate study for a first time and provide information on the study;
- Provide accurate information on the achieved success during the studies (achieved average grade) and possible additional professional engagements of the applicant;
- Presents information on one’s own engagement in civil society organizations or other organizations engaged in community service (public institutions, media, etc.);
- In the motivation letter, the applicant presented his_her own engagement in the community and his_her personal views on the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina society (with reference to values such as democracy, anti-fascism, secularism, solidarity, as well as the protection of human rights and respect for diversity);
- In the essay section, choose one topic and write an essay of a maximum of 400 words;
- Provide accurate information on economic status with data on the number and personal income of household members, and possibly other circumstances that affect the economic situation of the candidate;
- Provide other information that confirms the activism of the applicant (artistic or sports engagement, published texts, etc.).

NOTE: Candidates who will be selected for scholarships will be required to submit certificates of enrollment in undergraduate studies at the University of Tuzla, proof of average grade during the studies, recommendations from civil society organizations and other organizations in which the candidate was engaged.
