1) Dear Sven, you are an example of a successful student of oil mining, but who has a penchant and love for music. With all that, you are actively involved in sports. Are these things really compatible in one man, scientific and technical professions and art and sports – is it prejudice that you have to choose only one, or are you an exception to that rule?
I’m glad that it is only prejudiced that people take only one thing and then develop it into their profession. Seeing a lot of people who sang with me in the choir and my football teammates, it is possible to manage your job and hobby. For me, the routine housework, work-house simply doesn’t fit. I believe that everyone can develop a fulfilling hobby besides their profession.
2) Time management! How do you balance all the obligations and activities you have? Do you have any tips and tricks on how to achieve all that you do?
The most important thing is to set your priorities and adjust them according to your current circumstances. I don’t want to talk about a strict organization of your schedule because I don’t do it myself. It is important to have a plan for the day, know what to do, and solve as many tasks as possible. It’s also important to not postpone your tasks, because let’s be honest, you become lazy then. The best way is to get into the flow, then task solving becomes easier and easier.
3) From personal experience, which you really have, how to overcome fears and doubts and get out of the comfort zone?
It will sound like a cliche, but the most difficult thing for something is just to start and strive towards a specific goal. Once you procrastinate with something, fear and doubt come and you believe more and more that you can’t do something. Sometimes some things are hard to get done by me and then doubt comes in that I’m not good enough for something. For that reason, the best advice is just to go to a goal and make everything possible to reach that goal.
4) How to build self-confidence?
This is what I’m still working on nowadays. As I was an introvert throughout my whole life, I was a shy person, so that I lacked confidence. The best advice I can give is that you try as many different things as you can. In this way, you’ll develop at least one skill which will really interest you and develop curiosity. The best thing is to convert such skill into a profession. If nothing else, you’ll become richer by one more experience so you can share that experience with other people.
