Association of people suffering from celiac disease of the Tuzla Canton, Tuzla organizes the Bazaar “Promotion of gluten-free food” which is part of the campaign called “My disease is not my choice”. The campaign is one of the activities of the “No trace of gluten” project, which was supported and co-financed by the City of Tuzla.
By the way, celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that occurs in genetically predisposed individuals. As a result of the pathophysiological reaction to gluten, so-called enteropathy occurs – inflammation and damage to the mucosa of the small intestine, therefore another name for the disease is gluten enteropathy. This disease affects about 1% of people in the world, and epidemiological data show that the frequency has been increasing in recent years. Bosnia and Herzegovina is also recording an increasing number of people diagnosed with celiac disease, for which there is no medicine in the form of tablets. The only remedy these people can use is gluten-free food, even in traces.
The bazaar “Promotion of gluten-free food” will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Slobode Square, starting at 11 a.m.
Members of the Association will prepare numerous gluten-free salty and sweet delicacies and present them to interested fellow citizens who will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious food.
We invite citizens, representatives of public and private institutions, non-governmental organizations and the media to join us at this event, which aims to raise public awareness of celiac disease and the importance of a gluten-free diet for sufferers of this autoimmune disease. It will be an opportunity to get more information about the disease itself, its symptoms, and the way to make an accurate diagnosis, the Association announced.
