WHO ARE WE?
The Institute for Youth Development KULT (hereinafter: the Institute) is one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which for almost two decades has been actively implementing various initiatives aimed at improving the position of young people and creating a society where young people can reach their full potential. Along the way, the Institute closely cooperates with all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, other civil society organizations, and the most important link, the young people who give the Institute the driving force.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Institute is looking for motivated young people who want to be recognized in their communities as activists and leaders who propose, innovate and design creative solutions with the aim of creating better conditions for young people.
If you are a young person aged 18-30, residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, facing challenges and problems in your community, you have creative ideas on how to respond to existing needs and problems, and you are ready to take matters into your own hands, then this is a call for you.
WHAT IS UMiD?
UMiD is life-changing training. This is how students from the first sixteen generations describe it. UMiD training is an incubator of young leaders active in society. Training that allows you to become an example and driving force in your community and participate in solving youth problems, but also to prepare for your own career, gain new skills, meet new young people like yourself, improve and socialize.
HOW DOES UMID CHANGE LIFE?
UMiD is a one-year training consisting of seven two-day modules and a summer school, and covers topics that you, as a young person, need to be an active member of society and a true leader in the community. During the UMiD training you will learn how to encourage your peers to get involved in solving youth problems in the community, how you can convince decision makers and other participants in your community to give concrete support to young people, how to behave one day when you enter business world and many other useful things.

- Teamwork and leadership February 24 – 26, 2022
- Civic activism and volunteering March 17-19, 2022
- Project writing and implementation March 31 – April 2, 2022
- Youth policies May 12-14, 2022
- Advocacy and Lobbying June 2-4, 2022
- Communication and public relations June 30 – July 2, 2022
- Summer School (self-empowerment, human rights and conflict resolution) August 5-13, 2022
- Job search September 1-3, 2022
LEADERSHIP IN PRACTICE
During the training you will have the opportunity to learn about the topics we have listed, and the training will encourage you to think of yourself, peers, community and civic activism as a tool for change. The knowledge gained during the training would not remain only at the level of theory, you will have the opportunity to apply it in practice and act in your local community with the aim of improving the position of young people. Implementing a local civic initiative (LCI) will make a difference in your community. You are planning a local civic initiative together with young people from the community, and the entire implementation process will be followed by advice and financial support provided by the Institute.
WHEN DOES UMiD HAPPEN?
The modules will be held once a month, starting in February 2022, and will be organized during Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A summer school will also be held during the summer. The dates listed in the public call are not final, the Institute reserves the right to change the terms of the module, of which the selected participants will be notified in a timely manner.
WHERE IS UMiD HAPPENING?
Our gatherings will take place in the Educational and Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA, and during the training we will visit several other interesting locations.
COSTS?
If this call sounds tempting to you and you are one step closer to applying, but you are not sure who will pay for it all, please don’t worry about it! The Institute covers the costs of transportation, accommodation, food and materials you use during UMiD training.
HOW TO APPLY?
Very simple!
If you are interested in participating in UMiD training, you meet the above criteria, you want to start and change things in your community, and you have an idea how to do it, you need to make a video that will answer the question What can I do today for young people in my community to contribute to a better future?
Think about the specific problems and challenges you and your peers in the community face. When you recognize the most important problems and needs, think about how you can solve them and tell us in video format. The video should not be longer than 3 minutes.
If you think that you will express yourself better with a text or some other form, feel free to do so. The text should not be longer than one A4 sheet in Times New Roman font, size 11.
Please apply for the training via the electronic application form located HERE, within which you will submit your work (video, text…) on a given topic. In the application form you need to list two recommendations of people we could contact (name, surname, position and contact).
