The Sarajevo excursion site Bentbaša will once again host the most successful divers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and this year’s jubilee 10th edition of diving was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton.
On this occasion, last week at the dam on Bentbaša, the Minister Kenan Magoda and the president of the SporTur association and the organizer of the competition Dino Bajrić signed the Agreement on co-financing.
Minister Magoda said that “Bentbaša Cliff Diving” is one of those events that positions Sarajevo on the map of cultural and sports events.
“The tenth anniversary is no small thing for the city of Sarajevo. I am glad that the organizer is actually nurturing this tradition, this location, which is in the heart of all citizens of Sarajevo, and that something respectable has been made of this. I hereby wish good luck to all the competitors, the organizer, and come and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere in Stari Grad and on beautiful Bentbaša. What I’m glad about is that the jumps will be accompanied by a musical part, and of course work is also being done to clean the bed of the Miljacka river, which certainly represents an additional benefit”, said Minister Magoda.
The organizer and one of the jumpers, Dino Bajrić, said that this year there will be a rich program and good jumps.
“This year we expect an extremely rich program and the most important thing for the competition itself is safe and good jumps, because diving itself is counted among the five most extreme water sports, so the most important thing for the organizer is this safety part and everything else,” he said . Bajric.
He pointed out that in previous years, about 50 percent of the guests at the jumps at Bentbaša were foreign tourists, which is certainly significant for this event.
The “Bentbaša Cliff Diving” competition will be held on August 4, and at least 25 competitors will take part in two categories.
