This year’s visit of Via Dinarica project to the cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina ended with a presentation and a street event on Krajina Square in Banja Luka. Via Dinarica started this traveling fair in Sarajevo, followed by events in Zenica, Tuzla, Bijeljina, Mostar and Banja Luka.
The fair was planned and realized as a traveling installation which presents the attractions of Via Dinarica, its wealth, users and rural households of Bosnia and Herzegovina that offer services on its trails.
The pyramid installation, a symbol of the mountain and tourist locations, told visitors the story of the three Via Dinarica trails that run through Bosnia and Herzegovina – white, green and blue.
The hosts of the event informed the visitors about the importance of all three trails, and all visitors could find something interesting and something that they would like to experience on these trails.
Visitors were able to scan QR codes that were on the three stages of the installation, on screens and interactive cubes, and get direct information about interesting locations, users and partners of Via Dinarica.
The events were attended by representatives of partner municipalities and cities, international organizations and the UNDP BiH team of the Via Dinarica project, as well as users, i.e., small businesses and households and non-governmental organizations who presented their work.
Visitors in all cities were able to participate in on-site competitions, quizzes and fun games, take photos on the “top of the mountain” at Hajduk Gate and win prizes (backpacks, sticks, but also a vacation or adventure at one of the destinations).
Visitors had the opportunity to learn about attractive destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina where they can spend weekends or holidays, enjoy rafting, cycling, hiking, walking or simply indulge in the pleasures of local cuisine and healthy food.
At the final event in Banja Luka, beneficiaries from the Banja Luka region had the opportunity to present their offers and activities aimed at improving tourism potential.
The events in the six cities of BiH were very important for the citizens of BiH, but also for the partner municipalities and beneficiaries who presented their projects within the Via Dinarica project, including those currently under implementation. Via Dinarica is adorned with natural resources, but the beauty of the trails has been contributed by mountaineering societies, climbing, rowing and extreme sports clubs, associations and small businesses.
While Via Dinarica toured six cities, interested citizens who were not able to visit the events, can follow them live via FB and participate in online competitions on social networks, win some of the tourist arrangements and enjoy everything that domestic tourism has to offer – surrounded by nature, traditional way of life, unique cultural heritage and local cuisine.
The Via Dinarica project is implemented and co-financed by the United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The project is implemented in cooperation with local partners – the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska and the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, which financially supports Via Dinarica, and with local authorities, NGOs and private sector active in tourism.
