“On the occasion of the New Year’s holidays, with the help of the City Administration, we provided food packages for 440 users of the Public Kitchen,” said Željka Ilić, director of the City Red Cross Organization, and added that they had several activities distributing packages for the youngest.

“On January 17, volunteers of the Youth Club of the Red Cross had an action to distribute tea, as a sign of attention to fellow citizens who work outdoors in the winter,” she said.

The Red Cross, he adds, distributed food aid packages to individuals who contacted this organization, and clothes and shoes were distributed every week to those in need.

“Students of the final grades of 11 high schools participated in voluntary blood donation campaigns, which were organized in cooperation with the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Republic of Srpska. A total of 379 doses of blood were collected, which is 35 percent more compared to the same actions last year,” she said, and added that they also marked the International Health Day with a survey and the distribution of apples, after which the city’s first aid competition was held. .

“On the occasion of the International Red Cross Day, on May 8, packages for mothers and babies were handed over to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the University Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska,” Ilićeva said.

As she added, at the regional first aid team competition, the team members of this organization achieved significant results.

“On the occasion of Red Cross Week, fellow citizens had the opportunity to measure their blood sugar level, as well as their blood pressure, but also to get information and try to take care of emergency situations in first aid,” she stated.

As he adds, the Red Cross first aid team provided medical support at the “Little Olympics” at the national level from May 10 to 17.

“At the 27th republic competition in providing first aid, with a realistic presentation of injuries, conditions and illnesses, first place in the youth category was won by the team of Elementary School ‘Ivan Goran Kovačić’, while in the youth category, Banja Luka Gymnasium won first place.

Until the end of the year, a seven-day youth camp in Bardača is planned, where there will be 50 participants, a blood donation campaign at the beginning of August with the Red Cross Voluntary Blood Donors Act, Solidarity Week, a quiz on knowledge of the Red Cross movement, a quiz on warning about the danger of mine, World First Aid Day, Week of the fight against tuberculosis, Children’s Week, International Day of the Elderly, International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction, International Volunteer Day, autumn voluntary blood donation campaign with students of the final grades of high schools”, said Ilićeva.
