The Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, Enda Pavić Pečenković, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, Irfan Čengić, held a reception for the beneficiaries of these funds in the premises of the Municipality and signed contracts with them.

Through the Professional Service of the Municipal Mayor and with the support of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, a total of 103 families from Stari Grad obtained the right to grant aid for the rehabilitation of housing units to socially vulnerable categories in the area of Stari Grad Municipality.

The ranking list was made on the basis of the evaluation of the received applications according to the Public Call that was announced on April 17, 2024.

“We abolished the ‘royal powers’ of the chief to give money to whoever he wants without criteria or public invitation. We have adopted regulations, determined the criteria and the procedure for how we will help in the rehabilitation of housing units of socially vulnerable families”, said the Municipal Head Irfan Čengić.

A large part of the funds was provided by the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton.

“I am happy that we managed to provide help for 103 families in the municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo. These funds will enable rehabilitation of housing units and improvement of living conditions for socially vulnerable categories. The project is the result of the joint effort of the cantonal and local authorities, and that is why we will always try to support our fellow citizens and work to improve the quality of life in our community,” the minister emphasized.
