The multi-awarded play “Oresteia” on Friday at the Sarajevo National Theater

The multi-award-winning play “Orestia” based on the tragedy of playwright Aeschylus, directed by Slobodan Unkovski, one of the most successful directors in the region, will be performed on Friday, January 10, starting at 7:30 p.m. on the stage of the National Theater in Sarajevo.

The play stars: Vedran Đekić, Mediha Musliović, Izudin Bajrović, Ermin Sijamija, Ejla Bavčić, Amina Begović, Maja Izetbegović, Merima Lepić Redžepović, Mona Muratović, Sanela Krsmanović Bistrivoda, Irfan Ribić, Alen Konjicija, Pavle Novaković, Faruk Hajdarević, Sara Seksan, Vedad Čano and Alisa Čajić.

– Every time needs its own Oresteia, ours, it seems, more than any other, regardless of the fact that both history and literature remind us that “every time carries its own burden” and that the phrase floats through the ages that such horrors have never existed. And our time cries out for answers to the question of where justice is. And what will society do with a murderer in its ranks. And where is the place for violence and revenge, and how is crime redeemed, except by the crime itself. And, perhaps most important of all, what kind of man is this, similar to us in everything, who finds a way, the most honorable possible, to offer answers to these questions through his actions, his choices and his life, allowing us to continue with our lives without continuing the chain of crimes , so many clean hands, from sins washed away in one of the purgatories – said playwright Jelena Mijović.

The rest of the author’s team consists of: playwright Jelena Mijović, set designer Adisa Vatreš Selimović, costume designers Vanja Ciraj Džudža and Irma Saje, and composer Irena Popović Dragović, stated in a statement from the Sarajevo National Theatre.
