The Bratunac Municipality is one of the local self-government units in Bosnia and Herzegovina that has recognized the need to develop a strategic document for young people. Local youth policy represents the orientation of local self-government to improve the position of young people, and in the past period a survey was conducted on the needs and problems of young people in the Bratunac Municipality.
The analysis of the position and needs of young people in the Bratunac Municipality, which followed a survey of 360 young people aged 15 to 30, indicates the needs and problems of young people in education, health and social care, culture, sports, activism and youth participation in decision making, employment, self-employment and security.
The Youth Policy development process is led by a coordination body appointed by the Bratunac Municipality in cooperation with the Institute for Youth Development KULT, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Bosnia & Herzegovina Resilience Initiative (BHRI).
The coordinating body is composed of representatives of all sectors of interest to young people, in order to regulate all areas that are planned to be an integral part of the strategic document and offer appropriate content for young people. The president of the coordination body is Olivera Čučić, head of the Social Activities Department.
Youth policy is adopted at the level of the Republika Srpska and local self-government units for a period of five years. Based on the adopted youth policy, the Republika Srpska and local self-government units will adopt an action plan for the implementation of youth policy for a period of one year. The action plan for the implementation of youth policy is adopted within 30 days from the day of the adoption of the budget for the year for which the action plan is adopted. The youth policy and the action plan for the implementation of the youth policy for the area of the local self-government unit are adopted by the local self-government unit assembly at the proposal of the competent body of the local self-government unit and the youth commission.
