From June 27 to 29, 2024, Mostar will host a large Regional Symposium on minimally invasive gynecological surgery, organized by the Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Safet Mujić” and the Polyclinic “Arbor Vitae Dr. Sarić”. As part of this event, a basic and advanced gynecological endoscopy course will be held. The press conference on the occasion of the opening of the symposium will be held on June 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Mepas hotel, in the Princess hall.
Mostar on the world map of gynecological endoscopy
Eminent Mostar gynecologists, prim. M.Sc. sci. Senad Sarić and prim. M.Sc. sci. Alma Vila Humačkić, will host world-renowned experts in the field of gynecological endoscopy. Among the guests will be professor Rešad Pašić, president of the American Endoscopy Association, and dr. Edin Alagić, deputy director of the hospital in Oslo. The symposium will provide young colleagues with the opportunity to acquire the latest knowledge and skills in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
Laparoscopy – the gold standard in gynecological surgery
“Laparoscopy is today the gold standard in gynecological surgery, enabling minimally invasive procedures with as few scars as possible and faster recovery of patients,” emphasizes Dr. Senad Sarić, a pioneer of endoscopic procedures in Mostar since 2000. Through this method, over 70% of operations are performed laparoscopically today, including the most complex operations. The symposium will include a live broadcast of operations from the “Dr Safet Mujić” Cantonal Hospital, allowing young colleagues to follow and learn from the best.
An opportunity for professional development and networking
The symposium is not only an opportunity for professional development, but also for renewing old friendships and creating new ones. The organizers emphasize the importance of such events for the exchange of experiences and ideas in the inspiring atmosphere of Mostar. “Laparoscopy is much more dependent on the development of technology, which unfortunately we cannot keep up with since we are among poor countries. And what we have is above the expected level. However, we are fighting, we are not giving up and we are trying to respond in all ways,” says dr. Alma Vila Humačkić. Exceptional cooperation between dr. Vila Humačkić et al. Senada Sarić, based on mutual respect and enthusiasm, enabled the realization of this great symposium. Vila Humačkić emphasizes the importance of teamwork and synergy, which is the driving force behind many joint projects.
Pioneers of gynecological endoscopy in BiH
Polyclinic “Arbor Vitae dr. Sarić”, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has established itself as a leading endoscopy center in Bosnia and Herzegovina and an IVF center that has been successfully operating for eight years. Dr. Senad Sarić, together with his wife, cardiologist dr. Grit Kirsten Sarić, runs the polyclinic and is dedicated to reproductive medicine and gynecological endoscopy. Their work is recognized throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Dr. Sarić emphasized the importance of the development of gynecological endoscopy in Mostar, which began with the introduction of diagnostic laparoscopy by Dr. Zvonka Soča in 1985 and continued with the introduction of operative laparoscopy in 2000.
